Elizabethtown brand campaign down to three choices

Round 2 of voting begins today at brandetown.com

Elizabethtown will not be welcoming the entire world.

The logo using a blue figure standing atop a globe encircled by an Elizabethtown banner and carrying the phrase “Welcome World” attracted the smallest amount of support in online voting.

The scoreboard has been wiped clean and voting resumes on the three remaining ideas today. To participate, go to www.brandetown.com. Round 2 ends at midnight Thursday.

City government, the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau, Elizabethtown Industrial Foundation and Heritage Council commissioned this effort to develop a brand identity that can be used by community agencies to showcase the city. New West, a Louisville public relations firm, developed 28 concepts with numerous variations which eventually led to the four finalists and the community vote.

The website received 652 votes last week. One vote is accepted per IP address but participants can vote daily.

Still in the running are horizontal logos carrying the word Elizabethtown which are known by their slogans: Bring Your Dreams, The Best of E-Thing and Small City, Big Surprises.

This week’s vote will cut the list to two. A final week of balloting on the favorites will follow with the winner announced in mid-August.

Sherry Murphy, director of the tourism bureau, said some residents have offered specific suggestions or insights about the brand messages.
