Elizabethtown Woman’s Club has style show

The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown met on March 2 at the Brown Pusey House. The lovely table with tulip centerpiece had many foods representative of the St. Patrick’s Day theme.

It was announced that the state convention would be in Lexington at the Hyatt Regency Hotel April 12-14. Samantha Newby, student at Central Hardin High School, was the winner of the painting category of the District Art Contest and will advance to the state competition. Diane Willis, second vice president, introduced Ann Case, member, who was the narrator for the Style Show presented by Seasons of Elegance. Four members modeled several changes of clothes and accessories from the store located in Grosvenor Square Strip Mall on North Dixie.

Nora Sweat, chair of the Nominating Committee gave the committee’s recommendations for the 2012-13 officers: President, Betty Sue French; First Vice President, Cora Ellen McKinley; Second Vice President, Bobbie Dille; Recording Secretary, Kathie Deveau; Corresponding Secretary, Rosemary Deaton; Treasurer, June Smith; and Auditor, Phyllis Brandenburg. Jo Griffith and Maritza Johnson served with Sweat on the Nominating Committee.

It was announced that Games Day would be April 19 at the Brown Pusey House and soup and salad would be served by Atria of Elizabethtown. Members donated hardback and paperback books for sale with the remainder left in April to be sent to the VA Hospital in Louisville. Used Christmas card covers were donated to be sent to St. Jude and used cell phones no longer in service were donated to be sent for use by soldiers overseas.
