Activities start at 5 tonight

The Christmas Parade and downtown activities in Elizabethtown will continue as scheduled.

Rain throughout the weekend threatened to disrupt the holiday tradition but organizers decided to go ahead after accessing the condition and forecasts this afternoon. The confirmation was given shortly after 3 p.m. on Elizabethtown city government's Facebook page.

Elizabethtown will conduct its annual Christmas Parade tonight in coordination with Second Saturday activities downtown from 5 to 8 p.m. The parade will line up at Helmwood Plaza and follow Dixie Avenue to Public Square. Christmas carolers will be present and Mayor Tim Walker will provide a traditional Christmas reading before lighting the city’s official Christmas tree following the parade.
