An Elizabethtown man is charged with second-degree assault of a police officer after he was involved in an altercation Saturday morning at Las Margaritas in Radcliff.

According to a citation, security at the restaurant asked James F. Conyers, 23, to leave, but he refused. Police say he swung at the guard when a Radcliff officer stepped in to diffuse the situation. Police said Conyers then pushed the officer in an attempt to stop him.

Conyers was released Monday from Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a partially secured $10,000 bond.

He was arraigned Monday via video feed in Hardin District Court and is scheduled to appear April 19 for a preliminary hearing.
