Slyvester Clay, 28, of North Main Street in Elizabethtown, was arrested by Elizabethtown Police Department on Saturday morning and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

According to a police citation, Clay went to the Haycraft Street residence of Tina Stewart, a former girlfriend, early Saturday morning and threatened her with a 9mm handgun.

The pair struggled and the gun discharged into the roof above the porch area, according to the citation. Clay then made Stewart drive him around Elizabethtown and threatened to kill her. Stewart stopped at a gas station on North Mulberry Street where Clay allowed her to go inside to use the bathroom, according to police.

Once inside, Stewart asked the clerk to call 911. While Stewart was inside, Clay exited the vehicle and went behind a motel. Clay was picked up by another woman, police said.

Clay is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
