HARDIN COUNTY — An Elizabethtown man was flown to University Hospital in Louisville after a wreck on U.S. 62 Wednesday afternoon.

Kentucky State police cite wet road surfaces as contributing factors to the 5:30 p.m. crash that left

44-year-old Mark A. Meador hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Meador was in an intensive care unit Thursday, according to hospital officials.

According to a police report, Meador was eight miles east of Elizabethtown heading toward Bardstown when the Nissan he was driving slid off the right shoulder, crashed into a ditch and tree on the opposite side of the road, then overturned, trapping him.

Elizabethtown and Central Hardin fire crews extricated Meador from the vehicle and handed him over to air ambulance staff at the scene.
