Chase A. Dunaway, 19, and Nathaniel J. Restivo, 20, are charged with first-degree robbery and have been lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

Elizabethtown Police Department responded at 11:32 p.m. Thursday to Plaza 94 at 2022 N. Mulberry St. in reference to a robbery, according to a news release.

An employee told police “two tall males wearing all black with bandanas covering their faces” ran into the business and said, “We’re here for the money,” according to the release.

Police said the employee reported one of the men was carrying a black handgun.

The suspects attempted to enter an office and open a cash register without success and fled shortly thereafter, according to the release.

As Elizabethtown officers gave out the robbery information over the radio, a Hardin County Sheriff’s deputy saw Restivo and Dunaway walking along Tunnel Hill Road and noticed they matched the description of the robbery suspects, police said.

The deputy stopped them and officers who responded to the area made a positive identification using surveillance video recovered from Plaza 94, according to police.

Elizabethtowndetectives interviewed Restivo and Dunaway at the police department before lodging them at the detention center.

They are scheduled to be arraigned Monday via video feed in Hardin District Court.
