The “Explore the Future” night, an event created by Hardin County Schools to talk to parents of its eighth grade students at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center, begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The event was originally set for Jan. 15 and was postponed because of inclement weather.
“Explore the Future” is a presentation by Western Kentucky University’s Director of College and School Relations Dale Brown. He visited with all eighth graders at each of the HCS' five middle schools in November.
He shared with them the expectations they will have in college and how they can start today by fine tuning their study habits and taking challenging coursework. He also surveyed them about their expectations for high school, college and careers. Brown will spend the time with parents to share student survey results and high school and post secondary planning information.
“Dale is a wonderful presenter and I’m confident our parents will enjoy listening to him and hearing about what their students said about their futures,” Superintendent Nannette Johnston said. “Our students have shared with us that Dale’s presentation opened their eyes and has caused them to put a new focus on preparing themselves for life after graduation.”
Parents that are in attendance at the “Explore the Future” night can enter their student’s name in a drawing for a $250 Western Kentucky University scholarship. Brown will draw for two $250 scholarships.
