Christianity’s future
I would like to respond to the article “No comparison of struggles” and commend Harry Braxton for bringing to light the hypocritical actions of some Christian ministers. I don’t intend to judge or criticize — I will leave that up to Almighty God — but the message Mr. Braxton conveyed is accurate and should reflect the beliefs of all Christian believers. Like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, many Christian ministers have lost their vision and passion for what God’s word allows. Many have failed to stand up against the liberal agendas of Washington and do so deliberately for personal gain or fear of a tarnished image. I wonder what image homosexuality portrays to Almighty God. Even the president’s legitimization of homosexuality as an acceptable alternative lifestyle encourages deeper immorality. The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, calls homosexuality a sin. And the wages of sin is death. Ministers are ordained and set apart for the ministry of the church and upholding God’s word. Most have failed to realize that this great nation was founded on the principles of God’s word in the Holy Bible. How do people think we became one nation under God? Many ministers esteem lightly to what God takes seriously and marginalize what God has emphasized. We have become a nation of opposing groups, and seem to have deleted compromise from our vocabulary.
Until we as a nation return to “One Nation under God,” we will continue down the bloodstained road to self-destruction. The freedoms we have enjoyed for so long seem to be eroding in an increasingly anti-God climate. We don’t know what the future holds, but I know and trust the One who holds the future in His hand. May God bless America.
