The Radcliff Fire Department received a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant Friday worth nearly $100,000.
The money will buy 36 sets of turnout gear, complete sets of equipment for members to fight fires. It also covers the cost of a thermal imaging camera, 24 fire pagers and two rapid intervention packs used on the scene to treat smoke inhalation.
According to Radcliff City Councilman Chuck Angus, Fire Chief Rick Ledford budgeted $50,000 for turnout gear. Thanks to the grant, the department will get all of the additional equipment plus put the extra money to use on other needs. The department has to match 10 percent on the grant.
