Hardin Fiscal Court on Tuesday approved a 30-year lease agreement with Dow Corning Corp. for a location to construct a new Emergency Medical Services facility.
The agreement as approved will give the county access to roughly 2.2 acres of land at 892 Hodgenville Road for a cost of $1 per year.
Magistrate Roy Easter, chairman of the emergency services committee, said the location and low cost were the two main factors for choosing the ground to build the facility. He said Dow Corning is working with the county on the proposal and negotiating the final details of the agreement.
Neither the committee nor Fiscal Court has discussed a construction timeline for the facility yet, Easter said, because the county is still working on the basics and identifying the needs that must be incorporated into the facility.
“That’s down the road,” he said.
