Fiscal Court votes to reject Radcliff recycling trailer

Vote split 6-3

By Marty Finley

Hardin Fiscal Court has officially closed the door on the possibility of placing a recycling trailer in Radcliff for the foreseeable future.

Fiscal Court voted, 6-3, against placing a trailer in Radcliff during its Tuesday voting meeting. The motion had been postponed from last year as the magistrates researched the issue more thoroughly.

Magistrates Roy Easter and Doug Goodman have lobbied for the trailer for months on behalf of the county’s second-largest city, saying Radcliff has the trash volume to justify the expense.

Magistrate Garry King also voted in favor of placing a trailer in Radcliff. All three men’s districts represent the northern end of the county.

Hardin County Judge-Executive Harry Berry has argued Radcliff residents have other options, such as facilities at Fort Knox, the Vine Grove county recycling trailer and curbside pickup.
