A local site known for films could soon be known for fitness, too.
Kimberly Brockway, an in-home personal trainer and head of Renewal Fitness, is partnering with the Historic State Theater to offer a fitness boot camp beginning in September.
The first class is Sept. 7. The class meets from 7:15 to 8 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the First Federal Gallery at the theater. The fee for the class is $60 a month.
State Theater Director Emily West wanted to implement a fitness class at the theater to appeal to a new group in the community.
“It’s an idea I had for several months now,” West said.
West met Brockway at a Young Professionals of Hardin County meeting. Along with her personal training, Brockway recently started a camp the Parish Life Center at St. Christopher Church in Radcliff. That camp is from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, and is $99 a month.
Brockway hosted fitness camps for a few years in Ohio before she moved to Hardin County.
Brockway usually leads classes at the Radcliff camp, while the Elizabethtown camp mostly will be taught by Megan Nelson, a friend of Brockway’s who has a certificate in personal training.
Brockway said the camps will focus on full-body fitness, using a lot of bodyweight training, which uses the person’s own weight as resistance for exercises.
“My goal is to improve the health and wellness of as many people as I possibly can while I’m here,” she said.
Attendants also can learn about nutrition and will have a body fat analysis completed and weight checked on a regular basis to help stay on track.
To sign up for the camps, call Brockway at (270) 900-1496 or Nelson at (502) 378-0808.
