A flood advisory from the National Weather Service warns residents and travelers in Hardin, LaRue, Nelson and Bullitt counties to be alert today. A second advisory was issued for the Rough River Lake area.
The advisory was issued late this afternoon after a storm front brought torrential rains into the area. Low-lying areas and property near streams and rivers could see some flooding as a result of the downfalls, the weather service office in Louisville said. Areas known to have poor drainage also are specifically mentioned in the alert.
Motorists are reminded not to drive through standing water.
The specific area covered is southern and eastern portions of Hardin County, southwestern Nelson County, southern Bullitt and all of LaRue County. The advisory is in effect until 8:45 p.m. today.
The second advisory, which covers parts of Grayson and Breckinridge counties, is in effect until 9:15 p.m. CDT.
