ELIZABETHTOWN — A Pensacola, Fla., woman is recovering from a wreck Thursday night along Interstate 65 in which the vehicle she was driving flipped several times after going into and out of the grassy median.

Kristine A. McLaughlin, 30, was northbound coming up on Elizabethtown exits when she veered off the roadway, overcorrected and went into the median, Kentucky State Police said. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and struck a guardrail sending the car into a tumble.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday and involved no other vehicles.

McLaughlin was listed in stable condition Saturday at University Hospital in Louisville.

Cable median barriers are planned for installation along portions of I-65 south of Louisville and are capable of reducing the momentum of vehicles involved in crashes such as the one involving McLaughlin.
