A variety of musical acts, including an “American Idol” contestant and a co-star from a Conway Twitty musical, will kick off the sixth season of Glen Rice Family and Friends Musical Concert Series at 7 p.m. Friday.

The concert will be held at Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School and features music including country, gospel, oldies, Elvis, bluegrass, jazz, classical and original compositions.

Along with Glen and the Musical Concert Series Band, recent “American Idol” contestant Kenzi Lewis of Hodgenville will be a featured guest. Lewis made it to the Hollywood finals of the TV show competition.

Emily Portman, who is the co-star of the Twitty musical “It’s Only Make Believe,” also will be a featured guest.

For the first time the concert’s “Future Stars” series will include a youth and adult division. “Future Stars” is an opportunity for local and regional artists to perform and gain additional exposure.

This year’s youth division will feature Matthew Pinkham from Elizabethtown, Vivian Thomas of Brownsville  and Lyn Dawsyn Steenbergen of Glasgow, Ky.

The adult division will feature Rodger Riggs of Bonnieville, Bailey Birge of Glasgow and Renae Dawn of Clarksville, Tenn.

Tickets for the event art $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and a portion of the proceeds will go to charitable causes.

In Hardin County, tickets are available at Blakey Printing Company, the PAC, ReMax/Ward Sales Team in Sonora and Word of God Christian Bookstore. In LaRue County tickets can be purchased at both locations of Bank of Buffalo, Geneva’s Florist, Glenda’s Korner Kurl, Lincoln Museum and Rock and Rogers Service Center.
