An Adair County dispatcher was charged last week with promoting a sexual performance by a minor.

James Orley Absher, 49, of Columbia and formerly of Hodgenville, is accused of videotaping an underage girl at his LaRue County home between June 1 and Dec. 1, 2011.

According to court records, Absher moved to Elizabethtown in December 2011.

On Oct. 10, 2012, another person in the home allegedly found a hidden camera in the bathroom. The camera was turned over to Kentucky State Police.

Computers from the home were seized and officers found images on the camera’s hard drive. According to the citation, there were images of a teenage girl undressing, dressing and showering in two different bathrooms. One appeared to be a room in the Elizabethtown residence; the other bathroom appeared to be in the LaRue County home where Absher lived for five years.

The teen was 17 when she allegedly was taped in LaRue County, according to records.

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office served Absher with the warrant on Oct. 26 at the Columbia 911 center.

Absher was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail and transferred to the LaRue County Detention Center. He is being held under $25,000 bond. He will be arraigned Wednesday in LaRue District Court.
