A former Hardin County business owner pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Louisville to aiding and abetting with others in a pyramid and Ponzi scheme and conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
Swainson Hawke, also known as Ronald D. Scheetz, of Macon, Ga., was indicted in June 2011 along with co-defendant William A. Humes of Elizabethtown.
According to the two-count indictment, the men operated a multi-level marketing scheme between Feb. 1, 2005, and Jan. 20, 2008, that deceived investors by promising inflated returns.
