Former West Point man indicted on sodomy charges

-A A +A

New indictment comes a month before jury trial

By Sarah Bennett

A former West Point man facing 18 sex-related felonies has been indicted on another charge stemming from an allegation that occurred nearly three years ago.

Jimmie Sturgill, 65, of Catlettsburg was indicted Thursday for first-degree sodomy. According to the indictment, Sturgill forced the alleged victim to engage in a sexual act between April 6, 2010, and June 6, 2010.

The new indictment comes a month before Sturgill’s jury trial is scheduled.

An indictment is an allegation, not proof of guilt. A defendant is innocent until proven guilty.
