Events will be rescheduled

Because of persistent rain showers, Elizabethtown and Rineyville has been forced to reschedule their July 4th celebrations.

Elizabethtown Events Coordinator Sarah Vaughn said a new date for the Founders' Day Celebration should be firmed up by Friday.

"We don't know yet," Vaughn said. "We've got to figure that out."

The city initially announced it would reschedule the Founders' Day events Friday, July 12, but Vaughn said doing so would put it in direct competition with the weeklong Hardin County Fair.

Vaughn said all events, including the culminating fireworks display Thursday, will be rescheduled.

Rineyville officials announced Rumble Over Rineyville is postponed until Friday. The event is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. at the Rineyville Community Ballpark.

Based on the forecast, Fort Knox decided Wednesday to cancel its fireworks display on the Fourth. Other activities were moved from Brooks Field to Sadowski Center on Wilson Road from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The post asks that guests enter by the Wilson Road gate.
