Passenger airlifted to Louisville with serious injuries

By Marty Finley

Four people were injured and one was airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville after police said two vehicles collided at the intersection of Fairmont Drive and Wilson Road just before 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Radcliff Police Department spokesman Bryce Shumate said a female driver was heading west on Fairmont Drive in a Volkswagen Jetta when witnesses allege she pulled out in front of a Chevrolet pickup heading north on Wilson Road. The two vehicles subsequently collided, he said.

Shumate said the female driver, whose name has not been released, had two passengers in the vehicle with her, including a 14-year-old female that was airlifted with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The others were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment, Shumate said.

None of the identities of those injured were released Saturday by police. Shumate said officers still are investigating the crash to determine the exact cause.
