ELIZABETHTOWN — An Elizabethtown man indicted on sex crimes in August 2007 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after previously pleading guilty, according to his attorney, Shelia Kyle-Reno.
Matthew A. Franklin was indicted for sexually assaulting his former stepdaughters. He was charged with multiple counts of rape, incest, sodomy, sexual abuse and using the girls in photos and videos portraying sex acts.
Franklin, a convicted felon, also was charged with one count of being a persistent felony offender.
Franklin was arrested in Michigan in late May, and videotapes and photographs that were considered evidence were found with him.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Norman Chaffins said the evidence was “overwhelming” and “irrefutable.”
Franklin left for Michigan after the mother of his stepdaughters filed a complaint against him. The girls had told her in early May that Franklin had forced sex and sodomy on them on more than 20 occasions over a two-year period beginning in May 2005, when they were 8 and 12.
He was sentenced Tuesday.
