A local chapter of a national fraternity is celebrating its anniversary by raising money to bolster education.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. is hosting a scholarship banquet at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Saber & Quill on Fort Knox to commemorate its 106th anniversary as an organization. Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for blacks, was founded in 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
