Garden Club members visit Liberty Hall and Gardens

-A A +A

Several members of the Garden Club of Elizabethtown recently visited historic Liberty Hall and Gardens in Frankfort. Becky Ship gave a tour of the original home, gardens and the adjacent Orlando Brown Home. Both homes were built by John Brown, one of Kentucky’s first two senators. Liberty Hall was inherited by his son, Mason Brown. The property was divided and another house was built for his other son, Orlando Brown. Both homes now are under the management of the National Society of Colonial Dames. Following the tour, members met Dianne Caines, Garden Club of Kentucky president, at the Sage Cafe adjacent to the Wilson Nurseries for a wonderful lunch and walk through the extensive nursery.
