Star senior Beth Rates had 31 points as the homestanding Hancock County Lady Hornets avenged an earlier loss to 11th District rival Meade County with a 65-63 win in double overtime Thursday night.
Sophomore forward Morgan Turner led Meade County (10-7, 3-1 district) with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while senior center Maya Luney also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Addi Lynch chipped in with eight points and six assists for the Lady Waves, who led 21-9 after the first quarter.
