GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: John Hardin wins program-record 20th game of season (02/10)

Senior center Michelle Montgomery had 23 points and eight rebounds as the John Hardin Lady Bulldogs set a school record with their 20th win of the season by beating Louisville Holy Cross, 56-42, in the fifth annual Duke’s Sporting Goods Valentine’s Classic at East Hardin Middle School in Glendale.

Junior wing Nawdya Fletcher added 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Lady Bulldogs (20-7), while junior wing Zacchea Small had eight points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

John Hardin played without starting freshman point guard Tyra Jackson, who suffered a shoulder injury Feb. 1 at North Hardin.

NO. 11 CLAY COUNTY 48, NO. 7 ELIZABETHTOWN 47. Clay County senior post Cheyenne Madden hit a mid-range jumper shortly before time expired as the Lady Tigers (21-5) stunned the Lady Panthers (18-7), who had rallied from an eight-point deficit to start the fourth quarter.

Sophomore post Reauna Cleaver had a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds) for Elizabethtown, while freshman forward Erin Boley had 14 points and sophomore guard Darien Huff had seven points, six steals and two assists.

LARUECOUNTY 70, LEXINGTON BRYAN STATION 57. Junior wing Ivy Brown scored a game-high 31 points, giving her 2,010 for her career, as the Lady Hawks (21-5) pulled away from the Lady Defenders (14-10).

Brown finished off her double-double with 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks as LaRue County won for the third straight game and 10th time in 11 games.

Sophomore guard Alexis Brewer added 23 points, five rebounds and four assists. Senior center Alisha Durbin chipped in with 11 points, 10 rebounds and one block.
