GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Panthers cruise through first round in Daytona (12/28)

The Elizabethtown Lady Panthers didn’t need to play a full 32 minutes on Saturday.

Elizabethtown led by 18 at the end of the first quarter and 32 at halftime in a 58-20 romp of Clay, Fla., in the Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic.

The Lady Panthers (8-1) held Clay scoreless in the first quarter and led 39-7 at intermission. Their lead widened to 54-10 heading to the fourth quarter.

Sophomore guard Natalie Greenwell led Elizabethtown with 14 points, four assists and three steals, while senior post Jasmine Deaderick scored 13 points.

Senior post Alex Jones chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

NORTH HARDIN 61, KNOTT COUNTY CENTRAL 32. Sophomore guard RaeChaun Edwards scored 18 points and had seven steals and five assists as the Lady Trojans (8-2) cruised in the Lady of the South Invitational at Allen County-Scottsville.

Junior post Destiny Bramblett scored a robust 15 points and had eight rebounds and four steals, while senior forward Kurtrina Brunson added seven points and eight rebounds.

LARUE COUNTY 56, AUSTRALIAN TRAVEL TEAM 33. Sophomore guards Lyndsay and Valerie Whitlock combined to outscore the Australian Travel Team by themselves as the Lady Hawks (5-2) rolled in the Coca-Cola Classic in Campbellsville.

Valerie led LaRue County with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Lyndsay chipped in with 16 points, nine rebounds and one block.

Freshman guard Nancy Howell added nine points.

MEADE COUNTY GOES 1-2 IN KENTUCKY BANK HOLIDAY CLASSIC. The Lady Waves (4-7) beat host Bourbon County, 59-35 and lost to Lexington Bryan Station, 59-52 on Saturday. Meade County also lost to Boyle County, 67-63 on Friday.

n Junior guard Mallory Wathen scored 16 points, while junior post Bliss Powers added 10 to lead Meade County past Bourbon County on Saturday. Sophomore guard Kayla Padgett and sophomore post Scarlett Powers each scored nine points.

n Against Bryan Station, the Lady Waves lost a six-point halftime lead in the second half. Scarlett Powers scored 15 points, while junior guard Caroline Wilson had 13 and Bliss Powers had nine.

n On Friday, Boyle County trailed 48-43 going to the fourth quarter and outscored Meade County, 24-15 in the final period for the win.

Scarlett Powers paced the Lady Waves with 18 points, while Bliss Powers added 17 and Wilson had 14.
