GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Trojans win twice in Murray (12/28)

The North Hardin Lady Trojans picked up two wins Thursday in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic.

North Hardin beat Mayfield, 49-34 and Todd County Central, 45-31 in round-robin action.

n Junior guard Kiera Jones hit three 3-pointers and had 15 points, three steals and three assists to lead the Lady Trojans (12-1) past Mayfield (5-4).

Junior guard Domeneque Taft added 10 points, four steals and three assists, while junior forward Morgan Barrick had nine points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Chanel Roberts chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.

n Roberts had a double-double (16 points, 14 rebounds) as North Hardin rolled over Todd County Central. Taft added 10 points and two assists, while Barrick had six points and six rebounds.

The Lady Trojans held Todd County Central (5-4) scoreless in the second quarter.

ELIZABETHTOWNG OES 2-0 IN STAXX BBQ CAPITAL CITY SHOWDOWN. The Lady Panthers went 2-0 in pool play, beating Richmond, Ind., 72-41 and George Rogers Clark, 61-52 in the 12-team tournament at Franklin County.

n Freshman forward Erin Boley had 18 points, seven rebounds and one steal as Elizabethtown (9-3) rolled past Richmond.

Sophomore center Reauna Cleaver chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and one block, while freshman guard Rachel Warden added eight points and four assists. Senior forward Deanna Downs scored eight points.

n Cleaver’s 14-point, 10-rebound performance propelled the Lady Panthers past George Rogers Clark.

Boley chipped in with 19 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Kinsey Mudd added 11 points and two assists. Sophomore guard Darien Huff had nine points and three assists, while sophomore guard Livie Bowling handed out a game-best 10 assists.

JOHN HARDIN 72, LYON COUNTY 32. Freshman guard Tyra Jackson scored 17 points and three other players reached double figures as the Lady Bulldogs (11-3) cruised past Lyon County in the first round of the McLean County Christmas Tournament.

Jackson also had four assists and four steals, while junior center Zacchea Small neared a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Senior center Michelle Montgomery added 10 points and five rebounds and junior wing Nawdya Fletcher scored 10 for the Lady Bulldogs, who led 31-17 at the half.

Sophomore guard Shelby Maggard added seven points, while sophomore forward Melanie Humphrey scored six and eighth-grade guard Mariah Helton five.

HENDERSON COUNTY 63, MEADE COUNTY 42. The Lady Colonels led by 12 at the half en route to a lopsided win over Meade County (6-6) in the first round of the Owensboro Holiday Classic at Daviess County.

Sophomore forward Morgan Turner led the Lady Waves with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while junior guard Raley Johnson had nine points.

Meade County went just 12-of-34 from the field and 5-of-14 from beyond the arc.
