GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: North finishes second in Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic (12/30)

A cold-shooting night from beyond the arc spelled trouble for the North Hardin Lady Trojans on Saturday night.

North Hardin missed its first 15 3-pointers, finishing 1-of-19 from 3, as Murray rallied for a 47-43 win in the championship of the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic.

Senior forward Chanel Roberts notched her second straight double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Lady Trojans (13-2), while freshman guard Tamiah Stanford scored 14 points.

Murray had three players in double figures and made more free throws (24) than North Hardin attempted (nine).

n Roberts had 21 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Lady Trojans to a 43-36 win over Hopkinsville in Friday’s semifinals.

Stanford scored nine points, while junior guard Domeneque Taft had five points, three assists and two steals.

Roberts and Stanford were named to the All-Tournament team.

FRIDAY: JOHN HARDIN 55, ST. HENRY 37. Junior center Zacchea Small and freshman guard Tyra Jackson each neared a double-double as the Lady Bulldogs (12-3) rolled past St. Henry in the semifinals of the McLean County Christmas Tournament.

Small had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Jackson added 10 points, seven assists and two steals.

Junior guard Tajah Haley chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Junior wing Nawdya Fletcher and senior center Michelle Montgomery each scored eight points.

John Hardin played Paducah Lone Oak late Saturday night in the championship game.

ELIZABETHTOWN GOES 1-1 IN FRANKFORT. The Lady Panthers (10-4) split two games over the weekend. They beat William Blount (Maryville, Tenn.), 69-44 on Saturday and lost to Anderson County, 66-56 on Friday in the Staxx BBQ Capital City Showdown at Franklin County.

n Freshman forward Erin Boley led four players in double figures with 22 points as Elizabethtown rolled past William Blount.

Sophomore center Reauna Cleaver added 18 points and nine rebounds, while junior guard Kinsey Mudd and freshman guard Rachel Warden each scored 11. Mudd, Warden and sophomore guard Darien Huff combined for 11 of Elizabethtown’s 14 assists.

n Boley had 25 points and six rebounds, but the Lady Panthers couldn’t overcome Anderson County hitting 10 3-pointers Friday night.

Cleaver chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals, while Mudd scored seven points.

CENTRAL HARDIN LOSES TWICE IN LADY COLONEL HOLIDAY CLASSIC. The Lady Bruins (1-11) lost to Middleton (Ohio), 59-44 on Saturday and Russell, 62-54 on Friday at Bourbon County.

n Eighth-grade guard Mariah Helton scored 11 points and hit three 3-pointers against Middleton, while eighth-grade center Kelli Krupinski scored nine points.

Sophomore forward Autumn Jaggers added eight points and eighth-grader Emily Kerr scored six.

n The Lady Bruins couldn’t hold on to a nine-point first-quarter lead against Russell.

Junior guard Aislynn Barnes scored 20 points, while sophomore forward Melanie Humphrey scored 10 and Helton eight.

MEADE COUNTY FINISHES FIFTH IN OWENSBORO HOLIDAY CLASSIC. The Lady Waves (8-6) snapped a four-game losing streak over the weekend, picking up two wins to place fifth in the Owensboro Holiday Classic at Daviess County.

Meade County beat Ohio County, 51-48 on Saturday and Christian County, 66-57 on Friday.

n Sophomore forward Morgan Turner recorded her second straight double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) to lift the Lady Waves past Ohio County.

Junior guard Raley Johnson had 15 points, two rebounds and one steal, while senior center Maya Luney just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Addi Lynch scored nine points.

n Turner had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Johnson scored 18 as Meade County held off Christian County.

Luney chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds, while junior guard Katelyn Cucino scored 10.
