It took more than World War II to create America’s Greatest Generation.
When World War II ended, America was at a crossroads. The war effort brought the country out of the Great Depression, but when the war ended, the need to manufacture planes and ships, ammunition and the sundries that keep armies moving dried up. And millions of veterans were returning to uncertain futures and manufacturing jobs that no longer were there.
