Grand jury returns nearly 60 indictments

The grand jury returned nearly 60 indictments in September, including an indictment against a Cecilia man accused of assaulting his mother.

Dwayne C. Haynes, 49, was arrested Aug. 13 on charges of assault and unlawful imprisonment.

According to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Haynes assaulted his 74-year-old mother and held a knife to her throat for six hours. When the woman attempted escape, he allegedly dragged her by her hair back inside the residence.

Haynes denied the allegations.
