This year on Nov. 20, Americans celebrate the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smoke Out. This year will be the 33rd such annual event. The Great American Smoke Out is a designated day where smokers from across the nation unite in cause and commit to give up smoking for one day.
If anyone needs help and support in quitting this habit, please contact the local health department, hospital, the American Cancer Society and/or the Kentucky Cancer Program for further information and assistance. Another resource, which is absolutely free, is to call the 1-800-QUIT LINE. This is a telephone-based tobacco cessation course which has proven helpful to many now ex-smokers. Recent studies have shown that using the QUIT LINE can more than double a person’s chances of successfully stopping tobacco use.
