SONORA — The renovation of the Thurman-Phillips Guest Home was an example of recycling on a grand scale.
Built in 1897, the Victorian-style house and its décor was restored with original materials — in innovative ways. For instance, a bed in the main sleeping quarters was assembled with four porch posts; shutters were used for the headboard, and a piece of upstairs balcony became the footboard.
