Weeks after the announcement Fort Knox’s only combat team will deactivate by 2017, questions still linger.
Chiefly, how was the decision made?
Facing $170 million in cuts by 2020 mandated by the Budget Control Act of 2011 — not sequestration — perhaps losing the Duke Brigade made sense for the U.S. Army. Taxpayers are left to take officials’ word for it, though.
