Nineteen members of the Scranton University Crew Team spent their spring break working on the renovation of a Habitat for Humanity House in Radcliff. They are a self-directed team with no coach. They made their own plans, managed their own transportation, and drove from and to Pennsyvanlia in two vans. Quarters were provided by Wesley Hilltop House where the girls made some of their own meals.
At the job site they stripped existing siding, installed new siding and then painted the interiors. Members of the community provided lunches on their work days and they had evening meals at Warm Blessings, Elizabethtown Lions Club and Memorial United Methodist Church. One day of the week was dedicated to seeing the local sites which included Mammoth Cave, Lincoln’s Birthplace, Louisville Slugger Museum and the Coke Museum. On their last night in town Hardin County Habitat for Humanity treated them to dinner at a local restaurant. For more information visit www.hardinhabitat.org to see how to help.
