RADCLIFF — He was just sitting there on someone else’s porch when probation and parole officers rolled up to the Radcliff home during routine home visits Thursday morning — Hardin County’s most wanted fugitive Gary Green.
Just as one of the two officers in the car recognized him as the same man for whom they had three outstanding arrests warrants, Green ran around the house on Clear Ridge Court and into a wooded area.
According to probation and parole officers, Radcliff police which they had called for backup responded almost immediately, but it was too late. Green wasn’t seen again.
Although Green was charged in April with absconding from supervision and other probation violations, it wasn’t those charges or a history of drug arrests that moved him to the top of May’s list of Hardin County’s most wanted fugitives.
Green, a 6-foot, 210-pound man, allegedly forced his way into a Sonora home and raped a woman in March, Kentucky State Police Post 4 spokesman Steve Pavey said.
State police detectives contacted probation and parole officers to notify them of the alleged rape. Law enforcement officers throughout Hardin County have been on the lookout for Green since.
Green, 45, who is also known as Sid, came to be under the supervision of Kentucky’s Fifth District Probation and Parole officers in January, after he moved to Kentucky from Ohio where he had been convicted of cocaine possession and placed on probation there in September 2006.
Pavey said Green also listed an address on Fox Ridge Road as a place of residence.
Green has family in the area of Shelby Street in Radcliff, according to one of the parole officers on Green’s trail. The public housing complex on Linda Circle which Green provided as his address to probation and parole officials appears to be bogus. Parole officers say he’s never lived there.
Because of the charges, his criminal history and company police say he’s known to keep, Green is considered to be armed and dangerous.
YOU CAN HELP. Probation and parole officials ask that anyone with information on Green’s whereabouts contact the local office at (270) 766-5074.
Anonymous information can be provided to Hardin County Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 597-8123. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of fugitives.
Informants do not have to provide their identity when providing tips.
Hardin County Crime Stoppers awarded more cash rewards to informants in March than ever before. Dan Pawley, executive director of the organization, attributed the drastic increase of substantiated tips to this monthly newspaper feature.
Since the feature began in January, about three dozen fugitives named in the Most Wanted articles — roughly one-third in total — have been captured or turned themselves in.
This month’s issue features more than a dozen new names of people considered fugitives by local police agencies.
