RADCLIFF — A man who walked from jail after posting a $1,000 bond in 2005 is considered by Radcliff police and the Hardin Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office to be among the most dangerous fugitives from local justice.

While his alleged accomplice Andy Omar Martinez  was sentenced in August 2006 to five-years imprisonment for the 2005 armed robbery of three people inside a Masden Mobile Home Park residence, prosecutors have been unable to get alleged robber Concepcion Eugenio Mendez back in court.

According to court documents, Mendez was last in Hardin District Court in November 2005. After spending several days in jail, he was released on  $1,000 bond – 10 percent of a $10,000 bond set on a felony charge.

That’s the last any court, jail or law enforcement officials in Hardin County have seen the man.

Now, he’s considered to be among the most wanted fugitives in Hardin County and is considered armed and dangerous by Radcliff police.

A criminal record showing one charge of bail jumping has some thinking they may never see him again. But prosecutors still badly want him back in court.

“Now, it’s time to catch Mendez,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Shaw said in an e-mail to The News-Enterprise in June in response to a report on other Most Wanted fugitives captured as part of the collaborative effort of the newspaper, local police and court officials.

Mendez, now 25, has been on Hardin County’s Most Wanted list since the feature returned to pages of The News-Enterprise in February.

The 5-foot-11, 242-pound man once lived just down the street from the Morgan Street home he’s accused of raiding for loot in 2005, but Radcliff police spokesman Bryce Shumate said Mendez hasn’t been seen around there in years.

Court records also show Mendez has ties to Florida, where he first got into trouble as a juvenile after he was charged with shoplifting.

Documents from that incident show “Hommy” Mendez still may have a tattoo on his right thigh.

Anyone with information about Mendez’s whereabouts is asked by police to contact Hardin County Crime Stoppers at (800) 597-8123.

Crime Stoppers has paid thousands of dollars to informants aiding police in the capture of Hardin County’s Most Wanted fugitives.

Hardin County’s Most Wanted is published the last Monday of each month and is a collaborative effort of the records departments of local law enforcement agencies, the Hardin County Attorney’s Child Support Division, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky’s Fifth District of Probation and Parole, the Hardin County Detention Center, Hardin County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Shaw and The News-Enterprise.
