Hardin, Meade fire departments receive grant money

The Kentucky Division of Forestry awarded grant money to more than 60 rural fire departments, including one in Hardin County and two in Meade County.

Central Hardin Fire Department, Flaherty Fire Department and Meade County Fire Department are among the 62 rural agencies to receive money through the Volunteer Fire Assistance grant program, according to a news release. In total, the KDF awarded $195,000.

According to the release, the grants typically are used to purchase training materials, pumps, hoses, tanks, small wildfire suppression equipment, personal protective equipment, fire shelters and gloves.
