Hardin County Playhouse will hold auditions for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Plum Alley Theater in the Historic State Theater in Elizabethtown.
Rock, calypso, country and Broadway-style numbers are included in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical based on the Bible story of Joseph of Canaan.
Participants will be asked to sing a short selection of a song from the show. All materials are provided and advance preparation is not required.
The show includes 19 roles, an adult ensemble and a children’s chorus, said Bo Cecil, HCP artistic director. Auditions are open to anyone 6 or older.
A few years ago, it would have been difficult to find a cast this large, Cecil said, but the HCP talent base has grown and he thinks the show will be popular with performers and audiences alike.
Show dates are Dec. 7-9 and Dec. 13-16.
