Early college and career center could open by August 2014

Hardin County Schools announced a partnership today with Western Kentucky University, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, and Central Kentucky Community Foundation that will lead to an early college and career center in the district at a press conference at HCS Central Office.

WKU has deeded 20 acres of land to the school district to serve as the location of the center. The land is next to Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, and both higher education institutions will serve HCS students through dual credit and early college enrollment opportunities.

Superintendent Nannette Johnston said she hopes the center could open as early as August 2014, depending on approval for the plan by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Details will be available in Friday's print edition of The News-Enterprise.
