In June 2012, more than 2,000 former NFL players decided to sue the league, accusing it of concealing information linking football-related injuries to long-term brain damage.
With that lawsuit – the biggest sports lawsuit ever— a new can of worms was opened.
The way people viewed concussions and head injuries were transformed forever. It signified athletes weren’t OK with neglecting proper medical care anymore. And as this was happening, everyone associated with football scrambled to try to make sure head injuries are prevented as much as possible.
