Local business honored for work on two promotional projects

Heartland Communications Consultants was recognized Tuesday night at the Landmarks of Excellence awards ceremony in Louisville. The annual event, hosted by the Public Relations Society of America’s Bluegrass Chapter and International Association of Business Communicators of Kentucky, recognizes outstanding achievement in public relations.

HCC, which is based in Elizabethtown, oversaw production of the Bernheim "Children at Play" video which took home top honors, an Award of Excellence, in its category. It was produced in partnership with Louisville-based Mfilms for Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. The video highlights Bernheim’s Children at Play Initiative which encourages nature-based play and education.

HCC also was recognized with an Award of Merit for the Kentucky Work Ready Communities tool kit created on behalf of the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board. The kit is a step-by-step guide for counties pursuing certification in the Kentucky Work Ready Communities program.

HCC partnered with Lexington-based Balance Creative and Thomas P. Miller and Associates of Indianapolis on that project. The tool kit also received a national marketing award this summer, an Award of Superior, at the 2013 Southern Economic Development Council’s annual conference in Tulsa, Okla.

Earlier this year, HCC’s work on the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce website and e-newsletter received awards from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives at the organization’s spring conference.

Founded in 2006, the company is a full-service marketing communications agency that specializes in strategic communications.
