Of the 16 high school baseball teams that managed to push through district and regional tournament play and reach the coveted state tournament in Lexington this week, two are from our area.

Central Hardin and Meade County earned region crowns to join the select field.

The defending state champion Bruins dropped their state tournament opener to South Warren, 3-1, seeing the winning runs push across in the bottom of the sixth inning. The loss capped a 31-win season for Central Hardin — second most in school history.
