Community kickoff scheduled for Feb. 24

Hardin Memorial Heath President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Johnson will serve as chairman of the 2013 March of Dimes March for Babies, which is April 27 at Elizabethtown High School.

Johnson will manage the campaign, raising awareness and support for March of Dimes research and community-oriented programs to ensure mothers have full-term pregnancies and healthy children.

“I’m serving as the 2013 chair because as a father and healthcare executive I understand the importance of raising money to help ensure families have healthy, full-term pregnancies and babies to begin healthy lives,” Johnson said in a written statement. “All babies should have the chance to be born healthy.”

Celebrating its 75th anniversary, the March of Dimes created March for Babies to thwart premature births and health-related problems in infants, providing research, advocacy, health education and community services in Kentucky.

The Hardin County Community Kickoff for the March for Babies is scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Historic State Theater in Elizabethtown, where team kits and materials will be distributed and information will be offered on fundraising.
