Those wanting to get advice and a hand up on home improvement projects have an outlet to tap this weekend.
The Lincoln Trail Home Builders Association is hosting the 34th annual Home Design & Remodeling Show at Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown. The show is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.
The featured guest lined up for Saturday is Hardin County Extension Agent Amy Aldenderfer, who specializes in horticulture. She will headline a day of seminars Saturday focusing on gardening from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including workshops titled New Plants for a New Year and Veggies 101 Lite.
Sunday will feature a seminar from 1 to 3 p.m. on Energy Efficiency in the Home, which is sponsored by Nolin RECC. Bob Geswein of Harrison REMC Energy Services is the guest speaker.
Kimberly Jayne, executive officer of the Lincoln Trail HBA, said roughly 78 vendor booths will be arranged around Pritchard, ranging along the gamut of home improvement and remodeling services. Payne said homeowners can pick the minds of experts in different fields and share their ideas and photos for home improvement projects to gain feedback.
Many of the vendors will be offering door prizes and a prize package worth roughly $1,000 will be donated by Don’s Lumber, which will include a five-piece DeWalt tool kit, a DeWalt radio and a $250 gift certificate, Jayne said.
Real estate agents and bankers also will be featured during the event to help those who are interested in buying a home or refinancing a mortgage, she said.
