Home sales: Up, up and away

Sales of new and existing homes in Hardin and several surrounding counties increased by nearly 23 percent in 2010.
Local real estate experts say the big leap is a reflection of new residents in the area because of Base Realignment and Closure and an economy that appears to be on an upswing.
“It’s almost totally related to BRAC and what is going on at Fort Knox,’’ said Johnny Melloan of Melloan Real Estate. “We are fortunate to be where we are.’’
