The family of World War II prisoner of war Morgan French gathered Wednesday in Frankfort as a citation approved by the state House of Representative honored the late soldier's contributions. The citation’s co-sponsors, Rep. Tim Moore, R-Elizabethtown, far left, and Rep. Kim King, R-Harrodsburg, far right, were part of the ceremony as well as Clint Meshew, second from left, a volunteer veterans service officer at Fort Knox, who delivered the eulogy for French’s local memorial service. After three years in captivity, French was liberated by Allied Forces in 1945 and returned to Harrodsburg. He later was recalled for two tours of duty in Korea and worked at Fort Knox as a tank instructor until retirement in 1984. He died Feb. 24.
