Hardin County youth are invited to share an evening of faith and inspiration this weekend.
Impact, a Christian concert and worship event, is at 4 p.m. Saturday at City Park North Amphitheater in Radcliff. The event was created by Carol Gillenwater Baker, worship minister and coordinator of ConnectingU2Christ Student Ministries at New River Worship Center. This year, the event’s second, youth ministers at other area churches have joined in coordinating the event and spreading the word about its mission.
Gillenwater Baker said she wanted an event that would include praise and worship and serve to encourage local youth. Last year’s event went well but she has even higher hopes for this weekend’s event.
“This year I look for it to be bigger and better,” she said.
The event features CrossWalk from Shepherdsville, as well as the worship band from Abundant Life Assembly of God. The youth drama team from Valley View Baptist Church will be featured as well as Christian rappers.
A new feature this year includes several coaches from North Hardin High School giving what Gillenwater Baker calls “power talks” to encourage the teens in attendance.
Gillenwater Baker said the youth she’s spoken to are excited for the event.
“It’s like they desire it just as much as we desire to do it for them,” she said.
The location if it rains will be in the North Hardin gym. While Gillenwater Baker hopes the event can stay in the park, she dreams of a day where the park will no longer be a suitable location for Impact.
“I would love to see the City Park at Radcliff become too small,” she said.
