Area police are looking for a jail inmate who walked away from a work detail this afternoon at Saunders Springs in Radcliff.

Ryan Jones, 20, of LaFollette, Tenn., was last seen by the site supervisor around 2 p.m., Jailer Danny Allen said. After 3 p.m. when Jones could not be located, Allen said the supervisor contacted Hardin County Detention Center.

Jones originally was arrested in Whitley County on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree fleeing or evading police, Allen said.

Jones began serving time in April 12, 2012, in Hardin County as a state inmate in the work-release program and temporarily was released to another Kentucky jail, he said. He returned March 8 to HCDC.

According to Allen, he was scheduled to be released in May.

Based on Jones' phone conversations from Thursday night, investigators believe he is headed toward Dayton, Ohio, Allen said.

The jailer described Jones as a white male with sandy color hair, approximately 5-foot-8 and weighing 200 pounds.

All area police as well as agencies in Dayton have been notified of Jones' escape, Allen said.
