ELIZABETHTOWN — Eastern Kentucky native James Overbee will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Backstage Café. Overbee has written more than 1,000 songs and recorded 11 albums.
He performs solo with his harmonica and acoustic guitar, but he also plays with his rock ‘n’ roll band, The Talking Machine.
Beginning with an interest in bluegrass and country music, Overbee’s father, a Baptist minister and traveling performer, introduced him to The Beatles at age 10, which fueled his desire for rock ‘n’ roll.
Overbee has performed on radio, television, in rock clubs and folk festivals. His background and musical taste create a diverse musical style.
There is a $5 cover charge for Saturday's performance. For more information, call (270) 234-1686 or visit www.myspace.com/jamesoverbeeandthetalkingmachine.
